Removal of Phenol from Olive Mill Wastewater Using Activated Rice Husk
نویسندگان
چکیده

Olive mill wastewater (OMWW) contains many phenolic compounds that if discharged without proper treatment, may lead to substantial risks human health and deterioration of the environment aquatic systems. In this study, an attempt was made produce activated carbon from Rice Husk (RH). The RH chemically by calcium chloride utilized for removal phenol aqueous solution. efficiency using Activated (ARH) investigated at different variables such as pH, contact time, adsorbent dose, initial concentration, carbonization temperature. Results showed optimum 91.62% which achieved pH=6, temperature=850 ˚C, after 4hrs time. Adsorption isotherm fitted well Langmuir Freundlich models while kinetic data pseudo-second-order model, thermodynamic adsorption is endothermic in nature. Then rice husk sample used real OMWW samples locations city Irbid-Jordan providing average reached 94.6%. study indicates ARH have good potential be removal.

Rice husk carbon (RHC) has been prepared from rice husk impregnated with 50% H3P04 and carbonised at 300°C. Its adsorption capacity has been tested for the decolourization of wastewater containing safranine and methylene blue. The effect of system variables such as concentration, temperature, pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and particle size are investigated. Removal of dye has been found to...
